“Tobin’s Q,” or the “Q Ratio,” is simply the total value of U.S. public equities relative to their net worth. Here we have divided the ratio into quartiles. When this measure is in its uppermost quartile is signals that the risk-to-reward setup is not at all favorable for investors and, as such, they should consider some sort of “tail hedging” program as outlined here.
